3.27 Input Monitoring without Recording

You might wish to monitor an incoming signal (perhaps with input FX enabled) to ensure that you have the sound exactly as you want it before actually recording anything.

You might wish to monitor an incoming signal (perhaps with input FX enabled) to ensure that you have the sound exactly as you want it before actually recording anything. Set up the track input in the normal way; then follow this sequence:

  1. Click on the track’s Record arm button. 2. Right-click on this button.

  2. From the context menu, choose Record disable (input monitoring only). From this point, proceed as if you were actually recording. You will hear exactly what would have been recorded.
